Press release from the Mayor - Closure of the castral

Dear Sommières residents and visitors,

Following the results of the recent safety audit, I have decided to temporarily close the Medieval Castle and its surroundings. This closure is essential to guarantee the safety of the site and its visitors, and to undertake the work required to preserve it.

Safety and restoration work will have to be carried out as quickly as possible, to protect this precious heritage and develop it in optimum conditions. This temporary closure is therefore a responsible choice, with a view to reopening in the near future a castle that has been secured and restored in successive stages, and thus offering an even more enjoyable experience to all those who wish to discover our history.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. This work is an investment in the future, to preserve our heritage and offer future generations a site that reflects all the richness of our past.
